“Gen Z vs. Gen Alpha: How the Next Generation Is Rewriting Social Media”
That is the title of some new research by eMarketer.
“While Gen Z (1997-2012) watched social media evolve
from Facebook to TikTok, Gen Alpha (2013-2024)
entered a world where smartphones, short-form video,
creators, and algorithms were already the default. As such,
their social habits are being shaped not only by technology,
but also by their parents, regulation, and gaming” – eMarketer
A quote I love from the research is this one, which says it all really:
“Gen Alpha didn’t
discover social media—
they were born into it”
This information enables us as social media marketers, to learn more about the potential target group for social media campaigns. It is essential to understand the behaviour of the target audience. Gen Z or Gen X, are totally different from Gen Alpha when you look at the daily behaviour.
